Beyond Male Allies
A keynote championing the evolving role of men in gender equality.
In only one hour, unlock the power of men seeing themselves having a stake in and as the solution to gender equality.
When it comes to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace, many organizations find themselves asking ‘where are the men?’
For many years, gender equity was framed as the liberation and advancement of women and girls, and only of late have we included other gender-diverse causes around trans and nonbinary people.
However, men are deeply impacted by their gender too, and conversations have not been put forward in DEI in ways that leave men feeling like they have a role to play other than that of ally—resulting in many men appearing stuck, apathetic, or even resistant.
“This is a great way to engage men in the conversation about how they have grown up to behave the way that they do.”
– Lafarge Canada
“A huge thank you again for leading Shell through such an engaging and impactful session. We’ve already received a lot of great feedback on the session in general and, more specifically, on your relatability and ability to connect the dots for people. You did a fantastic job at sparking interest and conversation in a population we typically have a harder time engaging. For awareness, there were 361 individuals dialled into the call, which exceeded our expectations. I can’t wait to see the conversations as they carry forward into the new year!”
– Shell Canada
“It spurred really great discussion from the attendees and prompted genuine interest in what we call can do where we are.
It offered a different perspective that is not only extremely necessary, but also practically applicable. Your keynote opened the space for conversation around challenging what we know about masculinity and in turn equity. It has already prompted leaders to look at implementing ideas in their own teams and even to pursue deeper conversations.”

What it’s about:
-
Less Talk, More Action
A study shows 77% of men reported doing “everything they can” to support gender equality at work, while only 41% of women agreed men are doing so. The key to motivating men to move from awareness to action lies in answering why they should care about patriarchy in the first place.
-
Papercuts of Patriarchy
What’s in it for men? Healing a lifetime of moments where they were made to feel less than or that they couldn’t be who they wanted to be because of a masculine script that they inherited around always being tough, never showing emotion, and not asking for help.

Workplaces That Work, for Everyone
Inclusion for some ≠ exclusion for others. Get out of zero-sum conversations leaving men feeling like they are villains or experiencing discrimination. There’s something in inclusion for everyone, help men see themselves in the conversation.
